1W7 Disconnected (group project)

The Project

This week I found more of the look I will go on my project. I have made a small research on Frank Miller and he is using exactly the look I want to use. Especially “300” is an awesome comic and the movie that is coming out it is very astonishing, one of the best trailers I have ever seen. I have also start working on my “sketches site” where I will present my sketches, pictures, videos etc

The MADA

This week we start working on a group project. We decide to do a show at Tate Britain. The show will have title “disconnected” and each of us will have to present his work by the use of Nokia 95. Instead of paintings we will have mobiles. We choose Nokia and Vodafone for sponsors. Of course all these will be “imaginary”. On Tuesdays chat we split the work to be done among the group. I have assign to make the timeframe.  

The Blog

As I said before this week I start working on my interactive “sketches site”. It should be ready in a couple of days.

1W6 Time (group project)

The Project

I think I got to a stage where I know exactly how my visuals will be. At the begging I was thinking to go and produce a cartoon style 3d animation, but I decide that I will go more onto realistic 3d modelling and environment. I decide that, because I have already done a cartoon short film and I think it will be a greater challenge for me to go with the “realistic” look.

The MADA

This week I create a small video for the MADA group project “time”. My theme was dance. I shoot on camera two people dancing. The story and the idea is that two people can come close to each other in less than 25sec., so at the begging I have the female figure doing some erotic moves before they actually come close to each other and start to dance.

The Blog

I came to a conclusion that it will be better to build an interactive site for my images, sketches and videos and just add a link on my main blog. That way I will have a greater control over the way I will present them.

 

1W5 Presentation and debate

The Project

I finally gather enough info about my sons’ thoughts; now I can start working on the actual story that I will animate and on some more specific character design. I also made a list of keywords and I wrote down couple of his stories.

The MADA

This week we had a debate about the definition of digital art and time. Then on Tuesday on chat session we discussed how we can make a presentation as a group with the theme digital art and time. We came up with the idea of using Google earth and each of as add his information (location, short movie about time and link to it) and then chain email to each other, so each of us will add the cords of the next person into Google earth.

The Blog

I am still not sure if I want to use blog site to present any image, like photos, video clips, sketches etc. I am thinking of building a flash site just for that and add a link to my blog site. I rather have an interactive site of the images so viewers can have a better navigation within the images.

1W4 Sketches and layouts

The Project

This week I missed chat session because I needed to visit U.K for a training week on Velocity HD. The nice thing is that I had some time to work on my sketches and I create a list with questions for my son that will help me choose the story I will work on. It is more of a table that will lead me to my final decision. One answer we lead to other question until I reach to a point that I will have all the information I need to start working on my final characters and environment that I will use.

The MADA

This week we supposed to find resources relating to the definition of digital art and the categorisation of digital artists. Unfortunately because of my trip I had no time to do that. I did what so ever read the comments of the other ones.

The Blog

I had no time to work on my blog this week, but since I have everything ready I will only need time to upload them to my blog.

 

1W3 My Research

The Project

On Tuesday (26.9.06) we had an f2f tutorial. I chat with Jonathan about my project. He gave me something to think about my project… maybe more about my research and my project. He asked me if the audience need to know that the story is my sons’ story, or it can be any once child story. He really put me into thoughts so I decide that this will be my main research. Do kids think alike? We also talked about the methods I will use to record my sons thoughts like audio recordings, video, photos, notes, his drawings etc

The MADA

As I said previously on Tuesday we had a tutorial. I think it is great that we will do this more often. Jonathan helped me a lot and answered all of my questions.This week we choose or better forced Jessica to be our rep in Group A. I am sure she will there if we need her.

I decide that I will keep my blog / project web site here at wordpress.com for various reasons, but mostly so I can make easily and fast updates and all in one easy access place.

1W2 My Project and you

The Project

I am glad that my project sounded interested to my colleagues; at least this is the feeling I am getting out of the forums and the responses to it. They where some nice replies, and some nice ideas that may help me with my project. Now, about my project this week I start thinking how I will actually keep a track of my sons’ thoughts, and I came out with the idea to keep a journal of my sons’ activities and add video and sound, or even some sketches and anything that may help me later on. This is something to keep me busy the next days… how to achieve this; maybe to keep an online journal? Or even build a website just for my son?

The MADA

I have attended this weeks PGPD online seminar and I must say that I am still a bit confused about it. Unfortunately the video and the sound was bad quality, but I guess by next time things will only get better.

The Blog

Something that bothers me is my blog site. It is too slow and too limited when it comes to design. I am thinking of building my own site. This is something to count in my time management.

1W1 The start

Be part of it…

So nice to have all of these artists in one chat room. Very chaotic and interesting place to be. You just see ideas and “images” popping out of no where. Yes, that was our first online meeting. I got accepted in this course an hour before the first online meeting. I was excited to get into MADA, but after meeting all of the people and especially the tutors I got more excited than before. At the very beginning I wasn’t sure what I was going to meet, how the course would worked out etc, you see last year I tried to get my MA from a different University, but I last there just 2 months and the reason was that the way and the structure of the course and tutoring was far away from creative and inspiring.

The Blackboard

This system rocks. Very nice and well put together. This is the system they use at Collage for online help and tutoring. I spent 2-3 days just navigating around. I love the discussion board and I love the idea that people have the time to read and response to your ideas, thoughts and drop a line of there opinion.

My Blog

Well I finally made it; I build my own blog site. At first I was a bit in doubt if I want to go so global with this project. I guess is the ‘main’ hero of my project that made me feel like that. The idea of having my kid be part of this project…well it is a challenge.

The Project

I have been doing some research about my project. I gather and order some books that will help me and I had to think how I will be able to capture at any time my sons’ thoughts. I end up ordering a new mobile phone with high quality of video (Nokia n93 – for the record) so I can grab him at any time with voice and motion picture. He tends to think out loud when he plays in his play room with his toys so this will be a great help to me.
